Design After Dark 2014

A night of celebrating art and design…I love it! One of my favorite events of the year. Design After Dark is the primary fund raising event supporting the Design Council of the Denver Art Museum’s department of architecture and design. This year was the 10 year anniversary, and featured larger objects from popular local artists. Every year amazes me. Almost 900 people show up to support the Design Council and the level of artistry and creativity is phenomenal.

As always, a big thank you to the Design Council for inviting me to be a part of the event. It’s been 5 years of collaborating, and I am always inspired by the event. Cheers to another great year!!

Favorite Friday!

One of my favorite clients over the years is the Design Council for the Denver Art Museum. They throw great parties, and more importantly support amazing artists and designers. The latest installation is Pattern Play : The Contemporary Designs of Jacqueline Groag.

If you haven’t seen it, you should go! Beautiful work by an influential designer. And I love that the work is from local Denver collectors.

As always, thank you to the Design Council. It is always a joy to work with your team and continue to get to know your patrons.

For the Love of Art

For several years now I have photographed the event Design After Dark (DAD). It is the main fund raising event for the Design Council for the Denver Art Museum. The Design Council supports architecture and design in the Denver’s area…so not only do I get to photograph a cool event, I get to see some of my old friends from the architecture and design community! Win/Win!

Every year DAD is at a different up and coming location. This year they chose the McNicoles building off of Civic Center Park. The third floor has a great raw open space, perfect for the 600+ person guest list, but offers several smaller spaces so the event felt more intimate.

This year’s theme was Cirque…think old circus… so all of the art objects for auction had to be created around that central theme. Here are a couple of my favorites: first Contortion (because of the steam warped wood) I loved the shadow created, I could totally see this in someone’s house. Hang it in a niche and spotlight it…very artistic accent.

And second: Illusion. I’m swooning over succulents right now, they are totally fashionable in the wedding industry. I loved the dainty balancing act of this piece.

Thank you Design Council for allowing me to be a part of this fabulous event. I love the energy of the evening, and the opportunity to be around so many artistic people!

Celebrating Women

As a Wedding and Event Photographer, the best part of my job is being a part of amazing evening such as this…

The Denver Art Museum and the City of Denver worked very hard to get the Yves Saint Laurent fashion collection. Somehow, Denver was the only US city to host this impressive piece of history. And somehow, I was asked to photograph opening night…which meant I got to photograph the collection before the public got to view it! How fun! A big thank you to Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine, I am really enjoying being their Event Photographer!

If you have not gone to see Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective you’ve really got to make time for it. I went a second time to actually stop and look at the collection, and listen to the commentary. Really great.
