Matt – Class of 2011 | Denver Senior Portrait Photographer

Road trip!

This summer my Aunt called and said, “I want you to do Matt’s Senior Portraits”. YAY! So Matt, his parents and younger brother loaded up the car in Lincoln, Nebraska and drove to Colorado.  On Saturday I had a Family shoot in the morning and a Wedding that afternoon/evening, so I didn’t get to hang out with everyone… but come Sunday… the Senior Portrait session started bright and early! The best lighting is 1.5 hours after the sun comes up and 1.5 hours before it goes down, so we were at Chatfield Reservoir at 7am. Matt is a hunting/fishing/camping kind of guy, so we started where the mountains would be beautifully illuminated… or so I thought…

Although around the lake was perfectly clear, a thick fog had moved in over the Reservoir. Kind of eerie, definitely cold, and a challenge for me to find light. So we broke out the off camera flash – the whole point was to see the mountains!

As we we walked along the path, looking for fall color, we encountered a couple of deer hopping around in the brush… VERY FUN!

After lunch we found stadium benches, some of these football images are my most favorite! Next we headed to Downtown Denver for a few urban shots. Who knew we had a GQ model in the family! Look at that jawline!

We ended our day at Evergreen Lake. Saw a herd of Elk on the golf course (if you live in Evergreen you know how often that happens!) and watched the sunset over Upper Bear Creek…stunning!   It was a whirlwind of a trip/photoshoot, but we had a great time hanging out and Matt was really easygoing about the HUNDREDS of photos we took!
